Recipes of memory

Cooking, as experience, becomes memory, history, heritage. The book “La cucina della memoria” (Recipes of memory) collects the recipes of Jewish families in Monferrato, created, learnt and preserved by mothers, aunts, grandmothers.

To support the storytelling, Carmi e Ubertis has created a warm, familiar and contemporary visual language. The recipes are indexed by a system of informative icons (pesach, parvé, meat and milk), alternating with family and biblical stories, drawings, banquets, meals and smells that have livened-up kitchens in the houses of the Jewish Community of Casale Monferrato for centuries.
